Public Health Service Selects InfoReliance to Deliver Web-Based Learning Management Solution

Fairfax, Virginia – August 29, 2006 – InfoReliance Corporation, a leading Northern Virginia information technology firm, today announced that the Department of Health and Human Services, Public Health Service has selected InfoReliance Corporation, to provide an Online Readiness and Response Training solution for Members of the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps.

All federal agencies are required by the Homeland Security Presidential Directive to strengthen the preparedness of the United States, to take measures to prevent major disasters, domestic terrorist attacks, and other emergencies—and to respond to them if they do occur. Within the Department of Health and Human Services, the Public Health Service is charged with protecting and improving the nation’s health. Their primary responder is the Commissioned Corps.

This presents the Public Health Service with a problem. The Commissioned Corps is scattered all over the country. How can they train the officers of the Commissioned Corps to handle these new responsibilities without removing them from duty? How can they integrate that critical new training into their existing training programs? InfoReliance Corporation has the answer: the Learning Management System. To obtain it, the Public Health Service awarded InfoReliance the Online Readiness and Response Training Management contract.

The Learning Management System is an innovative and sophisticated solution for training officers of the Commissioned Corps. Officers can access the courses through a secure connection to a web interface, which means that they can take courses wherever they are located. InfoReliance is also administering the system and partnering with professional organizations who will assist in the accreditation of the course content. “Equipping first responders with the right skills is a critical component of our national security.” said Marshall Thames, InfoReliance Vice President. “This program will help the Commissioned Corps prepare for emergencies, and we are proud to be a part of it.”
